This week we held our July 2024 Children and Young People’s networking meeting at Leisure United Derby Racecourse Hub.
Thank you to our speakers who presented about the opportunities and work they have been doing to support our children and young people in Derby City.
Jake Ringland from Leisure United talked about the Derby Racecourse Hub - how it has transformed the grassroots football scene locally through it's bookable 3g pitch facility for leagues, clubs and individuals, and how professionals can use their community rooms, café, play area and pitches for their own sessions and to engage local families.
Adam Woolley and Morgan Stanley from Derby County Community Trust talked about the referral and accessibility pathways for their Empower and TackleIT programmes to support young people with low level concerns for their emotional and mental wellbeing.
Tremayne Blair and Katie Hibberd from Violence Reduction Unit talked about the aims and objectives of the Violence Reduction Unit for the next year, including Hope Hack - an upcoming engagement event with young people - and Walk Away - a project targeting the prevention of behaviour of males resulting in violence after a night out, crucial at the moment with the popularity of the sports competitions broadcasting this summer.
Attendees were given the opportunity to take a look around the facilities at the Racecourse Hub with Jake following a comfort break, and subsequent networking time before the meeting came to a close.
Thank you to nearly 50 professionals who attended with open minds to learn, share and collaborate and get to know each other with a view to improve and increase provision for our children and young people in Derby City!
